Request a correction or removal ↗ How can distributed systems be designed to remain correct and timely despite faults and adversarial behavior? The research group develops design, verification, and implementation methods for fault-tolerance, security, and timeliness in distributed systems using formal specifications and "white box" system knowledge. Methods draw from the theory of self-stabilization to create scalable dependability techniques and to distinguish correctness from dependability reasoning. Demonstrations focus on embedded sensor network applications and internet services where prototypes validate dependability properties. The group also co-directs a Smart & Connected Communities and Distributed Sensing community of practice to translate methods to practice.
