Where do environmental contaminants go, and how effectively can treatment remove them? Aga investigates pollutants including pesticides, pharmaceuticals, endocrine disrupting chemicals, and engineered nanomaterials. Her laboratory develops analytical methods using chromatography and mass spectrometry to study contaminants in complex samples. Research also examines antibiotic residues and resistance in wastewater, chemical accumulation in organisms, and the performance of treatment processes. These projects connect environmental chemistry with exposure and water quality, tracing chemicals from their transport through the environment to their potential biological effects.
