How do particle–fluid interactions determine flow behavior in industrial multiphase systems, and how can models predict them reliably? The group develops fundamental model development for predicting particulate flow phenomena using multiphase computational fluid dynamics for process design and optimization. Researchers implement particulate flow models in commercial CFD software by partnering with industry codes to expand multiphase simulation capability for industrial users. The group integrates its particulate flow models into both commercial and open-source CFD packages, including incorporation into OpenFOAM and MFIX. They apply fluid flow simulations across energy, pharmaceutical, aerospace, chemical and agricultural industries to aid process design and optimization.
