How can understanding a virus help turn it into a vaccine platform? Biao He studies paramyxoviruses, including PIV5, mumps virus, and emerging Jeilongviruses, and the ways they interact with their hosts. His research examines innate immunity, viral disease mechanisms, antiviral approaches, and vaccine development. The group also has interests in oncolytic viruses. These projects connect molecular virology with the development of interventions against infectious disease, making the research relevant to interests in host-pathogen biology, immunology, and experimental vaccinology.
