The group studies physical processes driving large-scale atmospheric circulations across scales, from inertio-gravity waves to ENSO, to understand rainfall variability. Researchers analyze how these atmospheric mechanisms impact rainfall by examining interactions between waves and mean tropical circulations. The group investigates projected responses of these circulations and rainfall to increasing CO2 using model diagnostics and comparative process analysis. The team combines multiscale process studies to link wave dynamics with large-scale climate change responses.
