Bose studies how large electric power networks can be understood and controlled as interconnected systems. His research spans power-system analysis and operation, with computing and measurements helping frame the condition of a grid. WSU lists work on a distributed, two-level state estimator based on phasor measurement units, alongside a longstanding focus on control of large grids. For researchers drawn to electrical infrastructure, the central challenge is system-wide coordination: individual measurements and local behavior must be turned into information that supports decisions across a much larger network.
