Bose investigates materials that can help repair bone while interacting with living tissue. Her research includes three-dimensional printing of ceramic and ceramic-polymer scaffolds, modifying the surfaces of load-bearing metal implants, and studying how bone cells respond to these materials in vitro. Other directions connect natural medicinal compounds with drug-delivery vehicles and investigate microwave and plasma processing. The work combines chemistry, materials science, and biomedical engineering around a practical design challenge: controlling both the physical structure of an implant and the biological response at its surface.
