Information we process
We process account and sign-in information, the research profile and résumé information you provide, lab and opportunity details, applications, messages, preferences, and records needed to operate and secure the service. Account information may include your name, email address, institutional affiliation, and authentication identifiers.
Public faculty and lab directory
We also curate professional faculty and lab information from public institutional and lab websites, including names, professional titles, affiliations, research topics, publications, and publicly listed professional contact details. An unclaimed listing does not imply consent, endorsement, or recruitment. You can request correction or removal without creating an account; see our directory listing policy.
How information is used
We use this information to authenticate accounts, manage roles and lab access, publish opportunities, support applications and communication, suggest research matches, send notifications and candidate digests, and investigate misuse. Matching assists human review; it does not make a final recruitment decision.
Your profile and sharing choices
New researcher profiles are visible to verified research leads by default. You can choose Private in Profile visibility at any time. Candidate profiles are not published on the public web. You can also choose to share only with labs you apply to. Scored discovery requires a ready research proposal and the “open to research opportunities” setting. Applying shares relevant application and profile information with the receiving lab regardless of your discovery setting. Public lab and opportunity information can be viewed without an account. Candidate digests may include permitted profile information in emails to research leads. Changing visibility does not recall applications already submitted or copies already received by others.
Before you upload a résumé
Uploading sends your résumé content to the résumé analyzer and its AI service providers to draft profile details. You can review and edit those details before selecting Save profile. Importing alone does not add the extracted details to your saved candidate profile. Saved details follow your Profile visibility setting; choose Private before saving if you want to keep them out of candidate discovery.
Service providers and AI processing
The service uses Clerk for authentication, MongoDB Atlas for database storage, DigitalOcean for hosting, and Resend for email delivery and inbound email processing. AI-assisted résumé extraction, matching, and lab-request processing use OpenRouter and the model providers selected for those tasks. Relevant text may be sent to those providers; scanned résumés may also be sent for document recognition. Provider processing and retention are governed by their own terms and settings. Do not upload confidential material or personal information you are not authorized to share.
Retention and security
Temporary résumé-import files are removed from the import job after processing succeeds or fails. Import-job records are configured to expire after 24 hours; database expiry is asynchronous. Information saved into your profile remains until changed or removed separately. Accounts, applications, messages, and operational records can remain while needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet applicable obligations. Access controls and authenticated connections help protect information, but no service can guarantee complete security.
Your choices and requests
You can edit your profile, change its visibility, and manage candidate-digest preferences in your workspace. Requests for access, correction, or deletion are reviewed by an administrator, who may need to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained, and information already shared with a lab or delivered by email may require a separate request to that recipient.
Cookies and sign-in
Authentication and session features use cookies or similar browser storage to keep you signed in and protect your account. Blocking these may prevent account features from working.
Contact and updates
For privacy requests, safety reports, or appeals, email [email protected]. Include your account email and relevant page or request reference. Do not send passwords, identity documents, or other unnecessary sensitive information.
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version.
