How can space geodesy be used to quantify Earth system dynamics such as crustal motion, sea-level change, and water vapor variations? The Geodesy & Geodynamics (G2) group uses GPS, terrestrial gravity, and geodetic networks to study crustal motion geodesy, GPS meteorology, and realization of geometric reference frames. Projects include building geodetic networks in the South Pacific, Andes, Greenland, and Antarctica to measure tectonics, postglacial rebound, and loading phenomena. The group applies geodetic observations to earthquake deformation cycles, mountain building, and climate-related sea-level and water vapor studies.
